A year can change, and it just happened 2 hours ago here; in Indonesia. But year by year life keeps moving before it goes together with people and other creatures of the universe. You and I must prepare something needed by GOD to face the judgement day that must become the day of ours. I wanna say Happy New Year 2020 and I know you set the plans up that supposed to be your days of last year. You have some new hopes and it must be needed by you to be true. Anyway, I celebrated 2020 with ReggaeSteem that is why I share with you now a song from Randy Valentine; Hold On.
Hold On is a 2016 single of Randy Valentine and it should entertain you in celebrating your new year’s eve in 2020/
Who is Randy Valentine?
It would be easy to label Valentine a hardcore reggae artist with a revolutionary edge. However, Randy is not that easy to define; he will ‘flip the script’ and not only show a softer side with songs like “Poor Man’s Loving” and “Does She” but write lyrics that will blaze his message into one’s brain with the directness of an arrow, or so the troubled soul into meditation. Complex, yet seemingly simple. For him, music is a Bridge.
Ronald Junior Fritz AKA Randy Valentine is a singer, songwriter, and composer. He emigrated to the UK from Jamaica/Clarendon with his family. As a child grew up he was heavily influenced by his father’s love for music, which was expressed mostly via a sound system that his father owned called SHINING STAR.
Yet again, Valentine takes the listener into another musical direction. Almost acoustic in style, the piano, and percussion, accompanied by a violin draw the listener in to concentrate on the captivating and compelling style of his lyrics. I thought to myself “Randy has evolved, the man is deep”! The bass comes right in the middle of the song – head-bopping time!
Growing up within a home that was always rich in music with the likes of Peter Tosh, Lucky Dube, Sam Cooke, and Tracey Chapman bounce off its walls, it is no wonder why he would then grow to become one of the UK’s leading voices in modern Roots Reggae.
He started off his music career in 2005 as a local DJ, where he used to perform in clubs in and out of London which led to him working for two years on an online Radio Station SWITCH 106 where he went by the moniker DJ Kwes.
In 2008, he joined forces with friends Jae5 and Kevin ‘Blemish’ Ababio to form a London-based artist development and production team J.O.A.T.
At this point, RV started to develop and exercise his passion for composing instrumentals that varies in sounds and styles and even a greater likening for producing for other artists, Stormzy, J Hus, Konshens and Fuse ODG just to name a few.
In 2011 he released his first self composed single Sing My Blues Away ft. UK rapper Jedi. It wasn’t long after performing at a string of prestigious Open Mic events in and around London the likes of ‘ILUVLIVE and S4S’ with guitarist friend David Wehimn, that in an effort to focus more on his potential career as an artist he met and joined forces with Swiss-based producer and Indie label owner Gary ‘Riga’ Burke of Hemp Higher Productions.
Randy Valentine’s career continued to grow from strength to strength since the release of his debut mixtape “‘Bring Back The Love’ in 2012 where he over 13 tracks – all built upon Studio One Riddims, such as” Stalag Riddim “,” Bobby Babylon Riddim “,” Lecturer Riddim “and more … Since then, it has been described by some to be a Reggae Classic.
My work aims to bring awareness of self-reliance in all areas of life. My inspiration comes from growing up in Jamaica where self-reliance from a young age was the norm and the benefits I experience from it no matter how tough, They have imprinted themselves in me forever.
My parents have been incredibly influential, my father always has the gift of music in me, always tells me to Carry On, a song I dedicated to him on Fulfilling my purpose, encouraging and inspiring others is what my future is about.
Randy is a man with much love for his family. He told everything about him on his official website that you can visit here.
